Nts at Mohave National Preserve

Rick (Falcon) and Robert (Igo) finished off a great and cheap traditional breakfast at a Mom and Pop Casino called Lake Mead Lounge at 7:30 AM March 5 and headed for Searchlight. It was about 50 degrees at departure. We started at 1800 feet elevation but the temperature at our high point, 5000 feet did not change as we followed the sun rising. 100 miles into the morning we were in the Mohave National Preserve. Saved for its nearly pristine Mohave Desert representation and its history in South Western Mining and early western railroading. The preserve is a fantastic place to ride motorcycle.
We topped off the tanks in searchlight about 35 miles from the preserve for that was the last gas we saw for 200 miles. We made several stops at abandoned mines and at the restored RR depot. The weather was such, the bikes were new, and the encroaching spring made this an especially euphoric day from start to finish. Rick is a great guy and an equally great riding partner. Truly a fine day.

With less than 5mph winds today it was very hard to keep the two NTs under 75. These are really great bikes for the buck.

Great pics. Great to see that you two discovered each other on this forum and now have a riding partner.

When I was hunting for a new bike I looked at every NT picture I could find. I'll keep putting mine in front of interesting things. I should go to the Strip and get some pictures. Haven't been there in a while.
Thanks for the kind words.

Ol, for those who have new NTs in the garage but the weather is keeping them there, I want to clarify something for you. When I was shopping for NTs, the professional reviewers would say "70 mph seems to be the sweet spot. At 75 the motor gets a little buzzy." I wonder if these guys actually rode these bikes. The NT LOVES 5500 rpm and will do 85 mph (and still pass a truck on a grade) all day long. I'm more amazed by this truly capable machine every day.

Nice pics, Igo. I hope to take some of my NT out west later this year (still in the planning stage for that trip).

Sounds good. I'm sure to need some guidance once I get out there. I've never been west of Arkansas (and that was a one week work-related stay in Hot Springs).
