Which oil filter??

While searching for oil filter options on the web, I came across something I thought to be rather odd. First of all I searched at Fram.com where the NT recommended filter is their PH6607 Extra Guard. When I west to WesternHonda.com and looked at the parts catalog, it says Honda 15410MFJ-D01. K&N says: KN204, Wix says: WL10000. When I look for a cross-match [or "competitor comparison", cross reference,] as available on these sites I find Fram PH6017A is the one listed to match KN204,WL10000, and 15410MFJD01. Anyone want to "wade in" to what seems an esoteric discussion? What filter do you use?

I use the official Honda filter. However, if you elect to purchase another brand, be keenly aware that filter length is of extreme importance. There have been previous posts, that you may be aware of, detailing punctures of non-Honda filters by the center stand bracket. I think the proper length is 2 1/4". I'm sure others will chime in with more specific information.

Red said it. Fram is one of the ones who's base matches, but the filter can is too long. It works fine until you use the center stand and it punches a hole in the filter.

You need the shorter filters.
A Fram PH6607 should be OK but the PH6017 is too long and will hit the centerstand and may puncture. Those cross references can be messy.

I use Mobile 1 filters in most of my vehicles, M1-108 in the NT and the Smart, M1-110 in the YZFR3 and Honda Fit.

The Honda Pacific Coast owners site has excellent reports on oil and filters. The PC800 as most of you know is the Grandfather of the NT700. As a quick summary: use Honda 1st choice or Puralater as 2nd. Fran is in lower quarter.

The WIX WL10000 is specifically designed for Hondas. It's OAL is designed with the NT in mind. You may use it without concern.

Wouldn't the nut on the back of the K&N 204 get pushed in by the center stand too?

I have been using the K&N 204, since first oil change. Sometimes if you don't know maybe advice is not such a good idea to give out.
