Re: Beautiful Honda

A 1961 Dream 305 was my first motorcycle that was not reserected from junk and spare parts, with some baling wire and wing nuts added.
Oh, the memories.

I also started on a HD Italian bike. It was a 125cc Rapido. Mine didn't get clapped out until I started on it. Bent the frame, broke motor mounts, a couple issues like that. If I had ridden it normally it probably would have had few issues. Dirt bike riding is hard on things.

Re: Beautiful Honda

The first bike I owned that actually run was the Harley Sprint (Italy). I put it through hell and back, and it just wouldn't quit. My buddy Harv had a Honda Dream, and carried the J-B Weld in his pocket to keep the bolts tight. To this day I don't know what kept us together, mostly luck and not smarts.

Re: Beautiful Honda

My first bike was a re-possessed, Benneli 250cc, bought from a finance company. I only had it about a year and most of that time it was down waiting on parts or adapting Honda parts to work.

My first was I think a 1962 Honda Super 90. I bought it from a friend for $65.00. My second was a 1965 Honda 305 Super Hawk, it was a barn find I paid $50.00 for it. BB

The first picture does not look like an S90 as sold in the US. Might be an import.

The picture was a Honda 90 (touring Honda Dream styling). Enclosed chain, etc. Internet says it is a CA200, but I recall mine was a CA90 model (1964 or 1965?). I had a red one. The S90 was somewhat sleeker with a more open frame. Different motor, more hp. Push rod vs OHC? I wanted one but the next bike was a rebuilt Honda CB160. Thanks for the memories. When it was cool at night, I would hang my feet on the license plate, peek over the headlight and shift with my left hand (didn't use the clutch).

The Honda Dream with its pressed steel frame and leading link fork was actually a "copy" of the 1950s NSU Special Max and Super Max (The one with the exposed shocks) The Special Max (1956) had a monoshock system. I had a 1956 Special Max 250. It was one of the most reliable bikes I have ever owned.
