    Short introduction

I am gerry to all x military British forces I live in Dorset a small seaside town called Swanage been riding bikes since the sixties, I have owned too many to go through them from Vincentís to the latest one which is a intruder which I am in the process of changing to the Honda Deauville I wanted to find out all the ins and outs of living with a NT 700 before making the jump I was thinking of the pan I sort of preferred the smaller choice
I have rode all the big sports tourers and was not as impressed as I was with my test ride on the nt 700 getting a bit long in the tooth these days and the weight of the others worried me .
After 22 years of doing it the forces way I am looking forward to some freedom to roam wherever I want .
Thank you for allowing me to join your group I am looking forward to learning a lot about living with a Deauville
    Thank you again

    Welcome to the forum!
The Deauville is an easy bike to live with and maintain. Great for commuting and touring. Enjoy!

Hi, Gerry! Welcome to NT-World! We've got a great Forum with lots of friendly and helpful people who are always willing to help with answers and opinions.

I've had my 2010 NT700VA since March of 2010 and will roll the odometer past 125,000 miles tomorrow. I've used it for all kinds of rides and it's worked great for me for everything from my former "grueling" 1.1 mile commute to my 2013 "Epic Post-Retirement Ride to Alaska, the Four Corners of the US, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Labrador," an 84-day, 21,000 mile jaunt. I've done several Iron Butt Association certificate rides, including 3 SaddleSore 1000 rides and a BunBurner Gold (1500 miles in 24 hours). I've had to have my final drive rebuilt twice due to two mechanics's failure to grease the splines after a tire change, but an extended warranty payed for the first one and my dealer (who had not been responsible for either failure) gave me their cost on the parts and only charged me two hours for the rebuild on the second one.

I had my bike lowered this summer after my 6th knee replacement in February and since then have ridden it another 5,000+ miles including a 4,700-mile trip to Oregon and then to Abbotsford, British Columbia, for the Southern California Motorcycle Association's Three-Flags Classic, which was as four day ride to Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

I have only owned four bikes, beginning with an '83 Honda GL650i Silverwing, followed by two '99 Kawasaki Concours before my NT700V. It's been my favorite (so far).

So since you are riding on your head, do you get better mileage on tires or helmets?
