As I mentioned in an earlier thread I have been watching for the "right" FJ1200 to show up on the market... Well it finally appeared on eBay and now it is mine...

I purchased a 1987, with only 10,211 pampered miles, owned by someone who took outstanding care of it. It was recently serviced, including the carbs, and had new tires mounted. Now I just need to run up to North Carolina to pick her up.

Here are a few pictures of the new kid soon to be in my garage:

I told my wife I am going to use it to re-live my misspent youth. She told me three bikes was a lot more than I needed to relive anything... Oh well, I guess I'll hold off on buying Number Four a little bit longer than I did between the Wee and FJ... :D

I've found myself checking ebay and craigslist recently for used VFR 800's. I've never owned two bikes at once, but thanks to Wayne or compared to him two seems more and more reasonable. Maybe I should add this bike to my search list. Sweet ride. Thanks...

That's got speeding ticket written all over it Have fun
Yes, indeed it does...:rolleyes1: My first FJ1200, a 1986 model purchased new, got me a 72MPH in a 55MPH zone outside Daytona in the late 1980s. The attached picture was taken just before that encounter. The "new" FJ has a Corbin "Gunfighter" seat included, as well the stock seat, so I may not need the fancy backrest.

Does the FJ have any luggage? It sure is a sweet-looking bike. Every seal in it may be dried out...I noticed it had 10xxx miles in the last 25 years. Have fun!

Back in the day you could add aftermarket hard or soft luggage, I went with the soft Marsee and Nelson Rigg IIRC. See the picture in Post #7 for my first FJ decked out for cross country. I will be adding soft luggage from my existing stash of "stuff" left over from other bikes...

I had a 1984 fj1100. LOVED that bike, still miss it today.
The FJ was the only bike I have ever owned that I truly missed and regretted selling. That is why I had been hunting for one...

I can't tell from the earlier picture if that fork brace was standard equipment or the PO added it.
It is OEM, 1987 was the first year it was installed.

Very Nice! I see some FJ1200's were silver. Any reason you went for the red? Was it a speed thing?

Seriously, congratulations. Gotta appreciate what the previous owners have done (and not done) to keep it looking so perfect. Enjoy.

That bike is absolutly beautiful. I love the early air cooled four cylinder era, specially twards the end. I wish my GPz was that clean... Beat of luck and congratulations with your new FJ!

Really nice. I like the old style so much better than that new stuff. Throw on a set of Denalis and light up the road. My recollection is that all the bikes in that era were a touch weak in the lighting department.

Actually I went for Silky White / Stormy Red with Dark blue Candy trim...:D Much like the FJR of today the early FJ colors help tell you the model year. If you look at the photo in Post 7 you'll see my 1986 FJ's belly pan was Red Over White, in 1987 it changed to White over Red like my new FJ has...good thing too as the Red over White belly pan was a real PITA to keep clean! The later Black / Gold, White / Silver, and Blue Purple versions aren't as visually appealing to me as the White / Red although I would have bought a White / Silver if one in this sort of condition had hit my radar...

After a 800+ round trip yesterday I got her home last night. Below is a picture of the FJ on the trailer at a Rest Stop in South Carolina. My wife went with me to assist in the driving and in this photo is telling me to get moving!

This was the first time I have ever trailered a bike and it was interesting experience to see the headlight filling my rear view mirror every time I glanced back... It was even more interesting when the Flex's rear window reflected sun light back in to the FJ's headlight that then appeared in my mirror as if the headlight was on!

I noticed two things:
1. It doesn't have that stupid 85 mph speedo on it.
2. And like my FJR, it has an oil level light on it.

Mine too ('84 750), but mine sat abandoned and impounded in the Ramstein AFB PDO lot. But it was cheap.
