Today is the first day of Winter and I was able to get in my First Winter Ride. Only a short 82 miles but hey, better than nothing. Did a loop that took me southeast thru some Upscale neighborhoods, The Pinery. Then on to Castle Rock, over to highway 105 via. Wolfenberger Rd. North to Castle Pines and then east back to Aurora by way of Hess Rd past the Rueter-Hess Reservoir to Parker Rd. and Home.

always fun when you can see snow, but not ride on it

Yup. Especially in Southern California. I’ve had to ride in it out of no choice. I saw a VW Bug flip over right in front of me and end up in the ditch. I had to react to it lay my bike down on that same patch of black ice the VW hit. Sliding with no control of any kind holding onto a 500 lbs brick at that point was not that fun.

The ice reduced the friction and the possibility of injuries. Damages to the bike were nonexistent. What a morning trying to ride into school. I did make in and into class on time though. ;)

The winter solstice is a day of joy for me amid all the winter dreariness because I know from that point on, each day will get a little bit longer. At first, it's only by a few seconds each day but starts to increase more and more. :) :)
