I rode a VFR DCT today and I have to say it is a very special bike. I’m thinking I need one of my own now!

I rode a 2010 DCT. I think you might be talking about the 1200X Crosstourer they brought over in 2016. I've been wanting the original VFR1200F since it came out in 2010. I know a few guys that bought NOS 2012s for $8K in 2014. Nobody wanted them then, but prices seem to be climbing on them. It used to be you could find 2010s everywhere for $5K used. It's looking like what I want is going to cost over $7K now. 2013s are over $9K. The 2010 fit me well and, long wheel base aside, it felt like a much smaller bike than it is. The weight isn't an issue at all.

I own a 2013 NC700X with the DCT and I love it.

I rode a 2016 VFR1200X Crosstourer at the IMS Long Beach Show. I found the bike to be decent in handling, however, the ride leader did not let really get above 60 MPH on the route. So, I cannot tell you how the bike would've handled about that speed. I found the shift points to be more aggressive when compared to my NC700X. I also have to take into consideration that it's a much heavier bike too.

I personally do not want to get into over 1,000cc anymore. The insurance rates on the last one it had on my policy for my nephew under my name was over $1,100 per year for just that bike. Also after my latest dealings with the insurance company regarding my last accident on my NT700. I do not think that I will own a brand new bike again for the simple fact the insurance companies total a bike after its first accident. The service manages at my local Honda dealer has confirmed that's the trend the insurance companies are following now.

I've been tempted by the 1200X. I've seen a couple deals for NOS 2016 - 2018 non DCTs for 8K. Sport bikes are my first love and I have to say the VFR1200f feels like it was made just for me. I love everything about it.
