Blue Ridge Parkway in May - What to expect?

Weather is my main concern. I know that the weather can change quickly at varying elevations, but in late May would an Aerostich Roadcrafter light be suitable (warm enough) for daytime riding?

I'll be taking along thermal undergarments and will layer accordingly, of course.

Also, covers for my gloves, boots and tank bag will be on board in case of rain.

You should be fine. I will be up there around that time and plan to dress the same. Rain is the thing you need to be prepared for. Watch out for wet leaves at the entrance to tunnels. Many a bike have been lost due to wet leaves near the tunnels. Even on a dry day the water drains from the mountain on to the road.
