... how good are they?

GF's daily ride seems to develop a brake squeak after a few days in the hangar, it does go away within a few hundred yards, but I'm scheduling a full break overhaul over the winter...

Sure OEM would be the best, but pricey...
What's the feedback on All Balls Caliper Repair Sets?
They appear overly complete though...

Assunming the pads are OK and not extra-hard, non-OEM pads, brake squeal is usually caused by the backs of the pads and not the caliper pistons.

Which is the weird thing...

- OEM pads with the aluminum backing on the correct side
- even applied a thin smear of copper paste on the relevant surfaces

Leaves only slightly sticking pistons as cause...

Your slight squeal that goes away almost immediately could be due to trace corrosion which occurs after a period of non-use in high humidity or salty atmospheres. If it goes away almost immediately, I wouldn't be concerned.

My suspicion as well, only that they (yet) not have gritted salt...

Think I'll do them as preventive measure, probably haven't been touched since '07...
