Last week I posted the rebuild of my seat thread. I did not include the 1,000 mile trip to get there and back, Cascade Loop to the Pacific Ocean. I loaded the bike to test a camping load for a proposed trip to the National Parks in Southern Utah (Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, etc) in a couple of weeks. I also met up with my son for 3 days of camping.

I packed up and headed toward the "westside".

I took US 2 (Cascade Highway thru Stevens Pass) from Spokane thru WA and a short leg north to Marysville. The Bavarian-like town of Leavenworth was busy so I skipped the regular lunch time Brat stop. :(

I spent the night at the Navy Lodge in Smokey Point near Marysville WA. The next day I took a short leg on I5 to SR 20 (North Cascade Highway). I took a leisurely ride across Deception Pass and down Whidbey Island. I caught the ferry to the Olympic Peninsula side of Puget Sound. The very civilized procedures call for motorcycles to be the first motorized vehicles both on and off of the ferries.

It was a short ride to Rich's Custom Seat business. My son from Seattle met me there and we spent the night in Rich's 2 BR apartment above the office.

I was very comfortable.

After the seat was done the next day. I rode to the Pacific coast (without pictures it did not happen). My son met me there and we camped on bluffs above the Pacific at the Navy's Pacific Beach Conference Center for two nights.

We changed camping location to Deception State Park at the west end of the Deception Pass bridges. That was after a trip through the Olympic Peninsula and another ferry ride.
Deception Pass Bridges. Large State Park is above the bridge (SR 20).

My camp site. My son had the one next to it.

Stayed on WA 20, North Cascades Highway toward home, but due to a late start, I shared the road with other traffic. I did stop at the Diablo Lake look out. The color is due to Rock Flour (Glacier Flour).

So, what to you think of the saddle? Somehow the ride and the visiting overshadowed the saddle build. And that's all good, but I was wondering about the saddle.

Did you have the "standard" saddle on your Tiger? I have the "deluxe Triumph saddle on mine and I haven't found a reason to change yet". It is about the best stock saddle I've ever had.

Well, that's an OK route. I've done parts of it. Lot's of good riding out in your part of the country. Kind of like my part of the country.

I am glad I had the seat rebuilt. The bike came with the Triumph LOW RIDE seat. At first I thought it might be OK, but the actual contact area was quite small. Also, it was much like vinyl covered plywood. Everyone commented how hard it was (but it was low). I did have some sore and numb issues going over which were not there after the rebuild. I posted the rebuild earlier.

Is Rich's seat much higher than the Triumph Low Ride seat?

I don't think so.. Rich said it might be a bit higher. but I did not notice much difference. Before I left, I loaded the bike and cranked up the pre load. When I went to test ride the rough seat, the bike was unloaded. I thought there was quite a difference in height, but when I took out the preload later, not so much difference.

I looked at that loop New to 700V posted and my mind asked how far to Bend. The memory of how well the shop there treated me. M- tech Bend , OR Scroll down and Walla Jezabelle being the rock star that she is. Awesome shop.
