Today between Casper WY and Custer, SD my center stand seemed to be loose and dropping along with the side stand.
The side stand works fine! I noticed it today, when I was backing up that the center stand was digging into the asphalt?
What the heck? Is it a spring??
I'm about to crawl under and zip tie the center stand to something...

There is a bolt that tends to come lose. If it is still there tighten it up. if not secure the center stand and see a Honda dealer for a replacement. It isn't a hardware store item.

Hope you are having a good trip so far.

There is a good sized Honda Dealer in Rapid City, SD, but not open until Monday.

The only bolt (9) shown with the Center stand is on the right side above the center stand pivot. If I am missing something I hope someone will chime in.

The picture is taken from below with the center stand up.

I'm sure you can find a 6 x 14 mm bolt at a good hardware store, if that is what's causing the droop-down. If it's a little longer just use flat washers to shorten the threaded portion. It's not a special bolt or extra hard - it just keeps the centerstand in its frame mounts so doesn't bear any weight.

When my bike was new, I removed that bolt and applied Locktite to the threads then put it back.

Tosh,

Had similar thought, but don't know what the thread pitch is, 1.0, 1.25, ?

If I had to guess, I'd say it's the course pitch (1.0). It's pretty rare for Honda to use the fine pitch in an unprotected location that is subject to road grit and water.

Once in gravel at road construction I had a rock come up an hit the spring on the center stand an knock it off. I duct tapped it up and later found the spring. I reinstalled it and all was fine.

Thank you to all!

The 6X14 mm bolt was, in fact, missing.
I put double zip ties across the flange on the other end of the "axle".
That essentially will serve the same function as the missing bolt.
The stand is back in its place and didn't move at all today!
I'll get a replacement when I return to civilization.
