You probably could do that, Clint. The MCL clamp has been drilled and tapped for 3 RAM balls and, of course, has the powelet outlet as an option.

Most of the Ram balls have either 3/8s or 10mm male thread and I doubt if the standard clamp has adequate thickness in the center for creating threads of that size; especially in aluminum. If I were doing it, I drill the hole but fasten a body washer and nut underneath. That way you'll have strength of the entire top and not just the minimal threads in the center.

The center clamp has plenty of meat there. I used the 10mm ball and there was maybe a couple of threads sticking through the other side.

was thinking more of a uni-ball configuration:cool:
Some long screws right there, to reach thru those risers too
And done without molesting/modifying the bar clamp:hat2:
