Handlebar Grip Extensions

I just purchased a 2010 NT700V and wonder why there are extensions on the ends of the grips. No other motorcycle I've owned has had them. Mine turn. Should they be tight? Thanks!

Vibration mitigation. The bar ends help to absorb most of the vibration the engine creates.

sometimes they turn, sometimes they FALL out, when you don't see them loosening up. the metal clip tight inside handlebar, has 2 tabs on it that snap into holes inside tube. they are very fragile, and only tighten up barely. they will bend those tabs and become ineffective

They're not grip extensions, they're vibration dampers for the handlebars.

ps. agree completely with Woodaddict's comment about the clips being fragile and easily bent.
