I decided to just install the lower section of the tank bars. Just enough to attach the highway pegs. I will see if I like this configuration or not. I can always add the top section later. Was not too difficult to install. Just the usual issues of access to the bolts and getting the wrenches on the bolt heads.
Found the Kuryakyn peg clamps were rotating around the bars even when tightened as much as I could get them. They are supposed to fit 1" bars which is what the diameter is on the Hepko & Becker bars. I had to remove the clamps and shim with some bicycle tubes cut to size. This fix seems to be working so far. The first ride with this setup will tell me if all is well or not.
Now some pics:

I added the top section of the Hepko & Becker tank protector bars. Also swapped the Corbin seat for the stock seat, as the stock seat weighs significantly less than the Corbin. That will help offset the added weight of the bars I installed. Plus I want to do an A/B comparison of the stock seat with the Corbin seat.
I will find out how these changes work on the pie run to Edom, Texas on the 28th.
Will post some final pics this weekend.

We've been looking at those but aren't to keen on the look of the upper bars. I didn't realize you could just install the lower bars. Might you have some pictures from a distance of what the bike looks like with just the lower bars on?

Thanks!

I will back the bike out and get some pics of the whole setup. Unfortunately the only photos I got of just the lower section install were all close ups. I will get a close up of the lower and upper sections where they join. That may be of some help in visualizing what it would look like with just the lower section. Will post some pics shortly.
BTW I agree with the observation the upper section looks a little imposing on the otherwise pretty sleek bike. I can always remove the upper if I so choose.

After all this deer talk, maybe the Hepko & Becker bars would make a good deer bumper!

Tried the deer whistles on my PC800. Must have mimicked a deer mating call. Saw more deer than ever when I installed them. Took them off!
Did not see as many deer after that.

Just wondering how those highway pegs are working out for you? Do the tip-over wings interfere with your legs at all, or are the offset pegs rotated back enough that it's not an issue?

As a matter of fact the tip over wings and bodywork do interfere with the foot placement on the highway pegs. Still have not figured out how to place them for more leg clearance.
As of now I can get my feet on the outer portion of the pegs without too much pressure on the inside of my legs. But cannot ride very long in that position.
I will have to play with the peg location and adjust the mounts to see if I can come up with a solution.

Otherwise maybe try the Mick-o-Pegs?

I thought that might be the case. I have recently bolted on a set of the H&P bars and with my legs extended to where it seems they would be with my feet on highway pegs, I'm right up against the wing. I do like the bars though. I"m not usre they really serve any functional purpose, I admit I just like the way they look. I'll be mounting some lights on them soon, so at least they'll serve that purpose :)

Hey, I figure the more I have in front of me the better. Never know when that deer will jump in front of you!

In the long run I am going to find something that works for me on the H&B bars. Will take a little experimentation.
Cause I do really need to stretch the 'ol legs once in a while to keep the knees from aching.
