How To Remove Plastic

I'm not a mechanic by trade, but I'm more than a little mechanically inclined. I would like to do all of my own maintenance. I just received the factory service manual, which covers the mechanical aspect quite well. What it doesn't cover are details on how to remove the damn plastic. Is there anyplace where I can get detailed info on how to do this?

I, of course, have read section 3, but I don't feel that tiny diagrams with no narrative is detailed info.

An FYI for you. When I removed my plastics I numbered each screw, push pin, etc with painter's tape and a grease pencil and gave that same number to the hole it came out of. Was a great help and no left over parts/pieces!
