Very many years ago, in times when the law where I lived was more pragmatic, a friend of mine was an "avid" motorcyclist (reckless, young idiot is probably a more apt description). He was well known to the Motorcycle Police and would frequently out run them. When he turned 18, National Service (the Draft in the US) beckoned. You usually had a choice of service: military, marine, air force, fire, police, customs etc. He, though, wasn't given a choice and spent his 2 years as a Motorcycle Policeman...
