I've riden one (without the luggage). They're light and seem faster than the NT also there seems to be much less wind noise.

When we had that in the US, it was called the "HawkGT 650." It only lasted about 2-years then became a cult classic once it was discontinued. In the UK, they kept selling variations of the HawkGT for many years.

The Revere is the platform that the NT was based on. It is shaft drive and has a steel frame. The Hawk as sold in the US was chain drive and had an aluminum frame. The engines were basically the same. Often the Hawk is claimed to be the predecessor to the NT which is technically incorrect.

This is accurate. I was intrigued by these bikes many years ago. However, the asking prices for these were ridiculous 10 years ago, just like the GB500s.

Thanks! I was busy moving west and had a Goldwing and the 650 Yamaha seca so I missed this bike but I remember the earlier Honda VT500 Ascot, which IIRC had a shaft like my Yamaha.

I got the Honda vt 500 Ascot in 1983..I remember it had a 30 minute seat after that it became a torture rack..I wanted to like it because I thought it looked cool and although it didn't give me any problems I traded after only one riding season...

I still have my 1983 VT500 Shadow in the storage unit. Haven't ridden in many years. I kept it because it was fun to ride. Vee twin, water cooled, shaft drive Honda ... sounds familiar.

I learned to ride on a Shadow 600 -- Vee twin, shaft-drive, and (I think) water-cooled. It was a decent bike.
