About two weeks ago during a short ride I made a quick stop. When I tried to start the bike, I had a MIL 19. Between cycling the key and rolling the throttle the bike started right up.... no problems since. I planned to replace the coolant this weekend so I thought I would perform the CKP check as well since half the tupperware was going to be off the bike. While researching a Peak Voltage Adapter, I ran into this forum post -- http://www.thumpertalk.com/topic/1034259-build-your-own-peak-voltage-adapter/ -- which referenced this video -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWsE2tPjHuo -- about building a PVA..... went ahead and acquired the parts and assembled; the CKP checks out fine so hopefully the MIL 19 was just a one off. In the manual, 20-7 it has the yellow wire going to the black connector and the white/yellow wire going to the gray connector - - - my bike was opposite; yellow went to gray, white/yellow went to black.

as an aside, I recently purchase a Hozan JIS screwdriver set; maybe self delusion, but seemed to fit the screws better..

any way got the coolant changed... couple of thousand miles late, but check that one off the list...... now for the brake fluid....

The JIS srewdrivers can be a big help. You need a good fit.

Thanks for the idea. I hope I never need to do a peak voltage measurement, but if I do, I'm copying your idea. Nice simple box & use of a set of test leads.
