I live in a border town on the Massachusetts/Connecticut Line with a lot of gravel roads both towns don't want to pay for.

Many are closed now, no longer maintained still doable on a dual sport or a small bike that can handle some water

Pass a Bond Measure to finish the road. I'm sure after the politicians get thier cut, there will be enough left to asphalt it in one state or the other.

Always wanted to see a covered bridge in person. Is it far from your home?

There are three within a days ride. If you like to ride little twisty roads there is an almost never ending supply in the area. Twisted Throttle and Whitehorse gear are day trips from here. Boston two hours Manhattan four Providence one and a half.
If you slab it you can hit the beach New Haven in an hour ride up RT1 up the coast to RI ride back through the woods on the quiet end of CT and be home before dark.
The city close by is on the skids as skilled jobs go to the lowest bidder. Not quite as bad as Detroit but the poor come in to fill the homes of the jobless.
But good riding, no problem. Some real nice B&B's a great place to visit.
