New camera gives 360 degree view.

Ricoh has just released a new digital camera for still and video with a full 360 degree view. The images take a bit to get used to. I'm thinking that this might give GoPro a run for their money. Just attach to the top of your helmet and take it ALL in. Interesting.

Wow, I don't know if I could get used to that fish eye look of the video. Interesting technology though Rich.

Now what they need is some video editing software that allows you to put a frame around a little rectangle within that view, and point it at things as if you had been a cameraman in real time in that spot. Maybe even have some kind of algorithmic way to take out the fish eye bit. It would be an effect like a conventional cameraman could get, only you're doing it in post-processing so you can go back and get perfect framing.

I'd venture a guess that our intelligence agencies already have such software.
