plastic tab repair

I repaired a few of those dang tupperware tabs that have crumbled. I bought some ABS sheet and glued them together with Weld On 16. I drilled and tapped the holes after gluing them in place. I think it has been a couple years and they are holding up...

Wow...what a nice replacement piece!

I hope you have good luck but I've not been able to successfully glue broken tabs back in place and have tried several different concoctions. I know that fiberglass would do the trick but it's so much trouble for just a small piece. :unsure:

I have grated up ABS plastic such as plumbing pipe and dissolved it with acetone to make a putty to reinforce broken stuff like this.

I like the putty idea. I wonder if you could add milled fiber (for fiberglass)? I already had the Weld on, but I forgot you can get abs cement at the hardware store.
