Took some balls to ride side-saddle with little or no protective gear to film those shots. I can't see where he is belted in/on the bike in any fashion either.

I don't think he is side saddle. I see the riders leg and the camera mans leg. Look at the boots, two different boots.
Yup! I agree, I didn't look closely enough to see the dissimilarity of the boots.

True that...
They're pretty much like a convertible:

- can't get by/filter in a traffic jam...
- and if it rains you'll get soaked below 40mph...

wouldn't even know where to park such an aircraft-carrier over here, where motorcycles have to placed between the cars, transverse to the curb... the front would stick out into the lane...

I know that road, I rode it on my Guzzi V85TT this past June. Tip of the Door County peninsula in Wisconsin. Google maps: 'Northport, WI'.

Hmmmm, I dunno. I was there too. Door County roads are mostly flat and straight. Hwy Q out of Bailey’s Harbor is the closest thing to a curvy road around there. And they’re full of tourists (touri?). But Door County IS quite scenic.

Now Hwy H-58 in MI Upper Peninsula from Munising to Grand Maris is impressive if you get there before the tourists wake up. I’ve never seen a LEO on that road. And it’s closed in the winter.

But don’t take the road east from Grand Maris to Deer Park. That was a big mistake. It’s called Deer Park Road on the east end and Grand Maris Truck Trail on the west end. The deepest sand I’ve ever ridden. It’s unpaved and down to two rut trail in places with trees very close. I’ve found some riding gems in MI UP but this isn’t one of them.

That picture I posted is on County 42 just before you get to Northport at the tip of the peninsula. Took it myself in June. Check it out on google maps if you don't believe me. They paved the road that way for no other reason than for the fun of it. Lots of car dealer TV ads are filmed there.

Took the Lake Express ferry to Milwaukee and spent 2 nights at Peninsula state park. After that I headed up to the Keewanau because I hadn't been up there for 15 years. Great roads north of Hancock, maybe even better than the Pictured Rocks drive. And the road through the Porcupines was stellar, too.

Oh yes. That’s on WI Hwy 42 just west of the ferry dock (for a short stretch). I stayed at Newport State Park and rode to Peninsula SP. I don’t think of WI 42 as a curvy road but the pavement is smooth.

I’ve never taken the express ferry across Lake Michigan but I’ve taken the S S Badger about 6 times. Riding on that steamboat is an experience. Quiet but powerful.

And I agree with you about the Kewanaw peninsula too. Great roads except for the Brockeay Mountain Road. That has a great view from the top but has been in disrepair for at least 30 years that I know of. Being from Michigan you must have ridden the “Tunnel of Pines” (MI 118 I think).

This fall I found the UP to be more crowded than ever. The first night on my annual “Tour da UP” . I was unable to find a campsite (all campgrounds were full). I ended setting up in the dark on some old logging road. The next day I started looking for a campsite early. Most were full but I found a nice quiet campsite at the end of a gravel road (Big Lake State Forest Campground). IMG_2480.jpeg

Found it ! Hwy 42 in Door County. It's even tagged on Google Maps as "Door County Curvy Highway". Thanks Sojourner, now I'll have to ride up there when I do my UP loop LOL

I rode that Brockway Mountain Road on a complete whim.....was riding the northwest shore road and, "hey, that road looks interesting".....and it was worth it 1000%!!! There was broken pavement, but nothing any motorcycle couldn't handle if you just made sure you missed the biggest of potholes. It was probably re-paved a decade ago and has fallen back into disrepair, but better than the conditions you recall. I encountered a couple of ADV riders from Big Rapids, MI (close to my home) at the lookout spot, and we chatted a long time.

Spent 2 nights at Tahquamenon falls state park, crossed the Mackinac Bridge and did the M-119 'Tunnel of Trees' on the way back home. That's another good one for the southerners to put a pin in if you're planning an upper Midwest trip. I actually encountered very few motorcyclists, and especially fellow ADV riders, on that week long Lake Michigan Circle Tour trip.

I reserved state park campsites in WI and MI in advance. As a kid we could find campsites in WI on a whim no problem, but they keep making more and more people, but they aren't making new state parks! But I am going to be more adventurous and try the reservation-less method more in the future.

Oh, and I should add that after Door County I spent 2 nights at a state forest campground, North Trout Lake, near Minoqua. Did a lot of family camping all across northern WI as a kid. Lots of nice twisty forest roads around there.
