With T.Paul heading south the trip to Twisted Throttle looked like a solo ride this year. Have all the stuff I need for the moment. (for this bike) Thought why not just go for a ride. If I turn left (or east) at the end of my driveway the road ends in the next town over Monson, MA. Main St. is Rt 32. Roads all seem to have some sort of theme to me this one is The Flight of the Bumble Bee.

Picked south yesterday through Down town and into CT, Stopped to snap a shot of the restoration shop in Stafford Springs.

Same year as a friends old ride. Traffic on this gorgeous sunny Saturday was intermittent but I wasn't in a hair on fire mood anyway. Just followed the route markers and headed South. Diverted a few blocks to ride over the frog bridge.

What you get on this trip is a lay of the land nap of the earth road with towns that incorporated in the 16 hundreds in between. Some larger than others still green between. Just before Norwich (say Norrige) 32 combines with 2 and becomes a four lane 55mph stretch leading to the reservation and the casinos. Then back to the cow paths I love around here. http://www.mapquest.com/us/ct/new-london

Some boats on the river Thames

A marker commemorating the birthplace of Eugene O'Neill

The train to Manhattan

The ferry's on Ferry St.
Got back on the bike and headed back the same way I came down Ah yes the Bumble Bee. A lunch at home and back for a senior hour early dinner out with my sweetie mental health break.
Enjoy your ride

Karl,
Thanks for sharing. It looked like you had great weather for a great ride.I'm back into riding now that I can swing my leg over the bike. Still doing PT three times a week.

Thanks for the ride report, Karl! I loved the Frog Bridge and had never heard of it. That's the kind of thing that makes riding off the slab so much fun.

I should ride up to Belfast one of these days, been too long Alex. Riding to Maine for a hamburger is a fond memory. I live in a town with no traffic lights and no numbered routes. Home to Vermont on the tiddlers takes planning, this ride took none of that. I could have stopped at the Sub Base or taken one of the Ferries. I rode home and took my sweetie out for dinner and a bottle of wine. I had a wonderful day. Phil I am still considered a newcomer here. There are textures to life here that change with the direction you ride. I like to stop for a bottle of water and talk to the locals as I ride through. The world has way more to see than I ever will. I love to go and dance with Jezabell.
