WOOT-WOOT!! 🤪😛🥳

I just got an email from UPS that my Russell Sport Seat is finished and in their hands. It'll be here Friday! I'll be selling my old Russell Daylong. It's all leather and was built for me when I weighed around 250 and was 5'9". It's got some wear. I'll post pictures and probably will price it at around $250.

You might want to hang on to your old seat until you have a few thousand miles on the new one.

Warren, you may be right. So far, my faith in Russell's products has always been well-placed. I probably won't sell it right away.

I had to go to work before it got here, but when I came back, it had arrived!!

My alley still has ice so I won't be riding it for awhile, but here's a whole string of pictures:P1150012 (2).JPG

The one on the left is my old heavy-duty Russell. You can see where sliding on and off of it in my Goretex 'Stich wore the stitching on the saddle. It's been repaired and that repair has deteriorated some. There's leather stitched in under the original split and then it was covered with some kind of glue. It hasn't changed much in the last year or two and has been ridden about 10,000 miles during that time.

You can see the repaired area above.

It's nice and firm and, just sitting on it, I can't tell much if any difference from my heavy-duty seat (which has a heavy-duty spring when compared to a standard Russell Day-Long. The Sport Seat has no spring and is about an inch higher than stock when brand-new. Russell says that after 500 or so miles it should be the same height as the stock saddle. The Day-Long, with the transverse suspension spring, is 1 1/2 to 2" higher than stock. I'm going to appreciate the lower seat height.

It does. That may be because when I'm lower, I need a bit bigger seating area. It'll be interesting to see what that lower saddle will do to my comfort due to the slightly increased bend I'll have in my oft-replaced knees.

Looks good Phil, it looks to me that it is a little less wide then the day long standard seat and the pocket is a bit further back. Sitting further back should unbend your legs a little bit, but sitting lower should bend them a little bit more so perhaps it's a wash. Your reach to the handlebar will be a bit more if you are sitting further back. The test will be in how it feels at the end of the full day ride.

So the new seat is to lower you, then?

Looks good. But I'm altitude-enhanced; and I have the leg-hinge issue going on, too. So I need to go up, not down.
My Russell Daylong, the one on the left, would be an inch and half to two inches higher. Want it?

Not yet. At least nobody I've heard from. New one cost $730. I'm selling the old one for $250 + shipping via UPS, which is probably around $40-45.

Thanks, Phil. I'll keep it in mind...this moment, I'm not ready to make any decisions. I'll decide one way or another in a week or so. If someone comes forward with money, well, if I snooze, I lose...
No rush as far as I'm concerned. But, if someone else steps up with $250, it'll be theirs.

Got it. Both times, actually. Finally replied. Sorry about the delay!
