Clunk/knock sound when letting out clutch

My last couple rides, which involved some periods of slow first and second gear twisty mountain roads, I noticed at slow speeds when I let the clutch out or feather it in first, sometimes second gear, I can hear a single knock or clunk sound. Not Horrible, but nothing I experienced on other bikes. Sometimes it can be heard even without clutch use, just putting along and going from leading to trailing throttle. But most noticeable when gently starting up in first gear and letting the clutch out. Anybody heard this, or are my super-sensitive ears cursing me again?

Does not sound like something I have heard before but earplugs cover a lot of bothersome sounds.

I actually do wear ear plugs. I've found many times that many noises are actually easier to hear and discern when wearing ear plugs, since they lower the overall sound level and keep your ear drums from being overloaded.

How many miles since Oil & filter change? What kind of oil used?
