Thank you! I wrote up a report on the trip I took 2 years ago on my old Sabre and have written several books (Christian theology).

Nice write up, What what brand and model was the defective tire? And what brand and model did you finally put on the bike?

Thanks! The defective tire was a Conti-Motion (which is what's on the rear). The replacement tire is a Dunlop Road Smart IV.

Nice short days are good!!!!! And safe... The Lord helps him who helps himself. Chris 1:1 The ditches are full of fast riding bikers who try to do 1,000 in one day.
Make sure your tent doesnt have fiberglass poles....very dangerous.
If my wife told me to go on a bike trip, I would see if she upped my life insurance LOL!
I have noted that many of my bikes develop a shimmy in the front end about 45 mph if I let go of the bars. This can happen early on in the first third of the tire's life. It is due to the wear pattern...and later on....cupping. I am now using Michelin road 6 GTs on both the VFR and FJR. Very happy with them.
The Honda Sabre is an interesting bike. While not as sophisticated as the VFR, I havent heard anything bad about them.

They will get my VFR from my cold dead hands.

My Sabre was a 700. It was a very good bike, but I wanted a newer one.

My second ever motorcycle. Here is the 1982 V-45 750 Sabre that I bought in 1985, It was a left over. Was a good bike for the 11 years that I owned her. Even shipped it to Hawaii for two years and back again. Got me hooked on sport touring. The rest is history.
