I had heard a lot about the ride to Hawks Nest in NY, so with a hall pass from wife, I hit the road early morning today with 2 other friends... ~ 150miles ride…
We took Rt23 and it is a damn fine road… going north we went slow … enjoying the scenery… a lil gravel road in the end , but my friends turned quickly as they were on cruiser… I could have gone a little further … + we were running short on time...
On the way back we split up to catch fastest way home for each one … and the twisties were soooo much fun … threw the NT around and thoroughly enjoyed it…
The only SIMP ($hit in my pants) moment happened when the rear danced on a turn. It was hot today and the tar that is used to fill the road cracks had kind of melted and softened… the tire went over it, I was on a curve, leaning and SIMP moment…
I am running the Shinko 705 (70/30) which I put on last year, so may be <1k mikes on them. My old tires (forget the name, but they were 100% road) had a tendency to keep the bike vertical, the Shinko 705 are more twitchy , tend to let the bike fall / lean easier… but the NT felt planted on the light gravel…
This is my new favorite route…
