8 flashes is the code for throttle position sensor. There's a very good chance this is just a dirty electrical connector causing issues. Before you toss money at a mechanic, read my posts in this thread starting here and subsequent posts the following pages.

If I recall correctly, it is NOT possible to buy the Throttle Position Sensor separately and only can be obtained by buying the entire Throttle Body Assy ($$$$)!

Before buying my next two Honda motorcycles (NC700XD and CB500F), I made sure the TPS could be bought as a separate piece. :)

It's the TPS.

The good news is that you can adjust it yourself and that may fix the problem. I did mine this the summer and it seems to be OK. I'll try and post a video about it.

You will need the toolkit which came with the bike plus a torx bit, a multimeter and some longish map pins. It's easier to use a socket set and longer screwdriver but you can do it with the bike's tool kit! I also made up some crocodile clips to attach to the multimeter and map pins but it's not necessary - just easier. In all, it took me about 20 minutes and it was the first time I've ever done it.

Also, if you need a new TPS, the TPS is the same as the Honda Civic (can't remember which year but between 2000 and 2006 ish) I'll try and find the year. That may be cheaper than buying it from Honda motorcycles.

Multimeter on the ECU connect B31 positive and A18 negative
Throttle fully closed 0.4V - 0.5V
Throttle fully open 4.3V - 4.9V

Page 6-42 and 6-43 of the manual

It takes longer to take the plastic off than recalibrate the TPS.
