Makes me glad my newest one is 27 years old. That kind of stuff is why I won't be buying any more new ones.

Did an annual on a K1200 this past summer for a customer. As I was taking the Tupperware off, I started smelling fuel. Sure enough, one of the right side QD's was cracked and the jostling of the plastic moved it just enough to leak. Had to cannibalize my R1200C as he needed the bike the next day. I replaced the QD's on the C with the shiney metal ones.

you could tell it had been dripping for a while. Funny thing is, the owner never noticed.....and neither did the dealership that did the last annual maintenance....grrrrrr

I was considering an R1200R. It's a really nice bike and the beta testers, I mean owners, have found the problems and BMW has fixed most of them. The other models have gone back to float type fuel level sensors, but not the R. Why would anyone buy a bike with a known problem? They all fail, are replaced and fail again. I'll keep my vintage BMWs and BMW can keep their new ones.

I've an 04 R1200CLC. Haven't had much chance to ride as I got sick the week after I bought it in Nov. Had an F650GS which sold last fall.

Decrease sales in North America is not across the board. Honda was up 5.5% and though Triumph posted a net loss for the year, related primarily to large expenditures gearing up for entering the Asian market, North America sales were also up 25% in 2013 and 60% over the last three years.
