Fuel economy - mileage

Your living dangerously Or do you have a back up container with you?

Eldon, I don't carry a backup container, but I knew there were two options before the place I had intended to stop. I stopped at the first one. On unfamiliar highways, I wouldn't push it that close to empty.

I have a 4 gal. aux tank in the tourpac of my Harley. it comes in handy to be able to carry 9 gallons. I may get one for the NT. just go to Tourtank.com for more info...

Just got back from about 1200 mile trip to NoCal for eclipse viewing. On the way home I went 289 miles from Gilroy to Ventura on one tank of gas (58 mpg - 5 gal. on fillup). Had a massive tailwind (20-25 mph) from Gilroy to Cuesta Grade on 101. Took SR 25 south from Gilroy; check it out some time. Nice mix of curves, a couple of long straights, and near zero traffic. My usual mileage is 53 calculated and 60 indicated.

That's great! My high was about 56mpg. 276 miles on 4.9 gallons. It included a net altitude loss of about 3,000 feet, plus nearly 50 miles in Rocky Mountain National Park at speeds of 35-45 mph.
