How old is my battery?

Just got a nt two weeks ago, a 2010 with 6700 miles. Is there a date or date code on the battery? The bike starts fine, just want to know so I can be prepared!

Assume it is original. Put the bike on a battery tender. Enjoy the bike.

If it is an original (or replacement) Yuasa the date code is a 6 digit alpha-numeric something like RS3048. One can spend many hours searching the innerwebs for the magic decoder ..... and still fail. email Yuasa with the code if you are really interested. They responded to my request in a few days.

It may fail after a period of time because it is fairly old. Ride it this summer where it is relatively easy to start and use the battery tender if you're not riding it for a week or so.

What Chris said. They tend to fail when you discharge them past a certain point too long or often.

The battery on my bike is original and I bought the bike 5? years ago. It is OK ATM as the weather is warm but I'm expecting to have to replace it in the Autumn before the cold weather arrives.

My 2010 battery is no longer reliable at 4 years. I replaced before I did a long ride. I also purchased a jump battery to carry, they are getting cheaper and you can ever charge you phone, computer, gps etc. with them. You can get them for Ebay or Amazon
