The GTs have a stiffer side wall and are intended for the heavier bikes. Most folks here use the PR4s. The GTs will work, but I think the ride will be much better with the PR4s unless you are at or over the maximum GVWR all the time.

For your ST1300A PR4GT for your NT700V PR4
Yeah... my ST1300 eats PR4s for breakfast...literally. Just got back from a 10 day trip through VA, NC, TN...all the good fun back roads. We both put on brand new PR4s (accidental order, should have been GTs) 2700 miles into our 4500 mile trip I have to get a new rear. His lasted another 600. Heavy bike, but fun. And the southern roads....

I have a friend who does the same thing to tires with his C14. His last trip south he trashed a set in 2500 miles. But he rides HARD.

And I recently had to replace a T30 rear in Little Rock AR. I thought the tire had 4,000 miles left on it when I left home, but at 2,000 miles it was junk.

I've got a set of PR4s that will be on before Spearfish.

OK... Why?
I have had extremely good service with the Dunlops. Over 21K miles on the front and 18K miles on the rear. Excellent traction wet or dry and no unusual wear patterns. The PR4s are good tires, I just don't buy Michelins.

If I don't get decent mileage from the PR4s that will be new for the trip to Spearfish, I'll give the Roadsmarts a try. My favorite bike-mag, the British magazine BIKE, has ads for RoadSmart 3s in the last two issues, but I haven't seen any reference to them here in the Colonies.

Here's the link to Dunlop UK: http://www.dunlop.eu/dunlop_uk/mc/tyres/on_road/RoadSmart_III.jsp

The only Roadsmart I've ever had was a rear tire I bought in Rapid City during the '12 Rally. I replaced it at 8K when I bought a new set of PR4s. Those tires were only on the bike for 4,000 miles before I replaced them before I left on the Epic Ride. I ended up using the rear and got about 12,000 out of it. I've still got the front and will use it someday before it gets too old.
