Light goes off. It’s not the bulb or the fuse ?

The starter motor did spin each time you hit to Start button but at the drive end is something called a sprag (one-way) clutch. It will start the engine but when the engine is turning faster than the starter motor, it just slips. :)

I had that happen, but it turned out that one of the wires attached to the starter switch had come unsoldered. Weird freak thing. I soldered it back in place and haven't had the problem since.
That's exactly what I had to do! Same fix, I soldered back the wire that broke from the soldered pad.
