MCN Awards 2012
By Richard Newland - General news 19 September 2012 16:12

The Imperial War Museum, Duxford, provided the stunning backdrop for last night?s 2012 MCN Awards, as dignitaries from the motorcycle industry joined senior MCN staff under the wings of Concorde in anticipation of winning a coveted trophy.

The majority of the awards were presented early in the evening, with the headline honour of ?Machine of the Year? being presented after dinner to BMW?s Ian Furse in recognition of the S1000RR?s class-defining ability.

It?s the second time that the S1000RR has scooped the award, having also taken the accolade its debut year, 2010.

As Triumph marks its 110th Anniversary, they had further cause for celebration after scooping the prestigious ?Manufacturer of the Year? honour, in addition to the Tiger Explorer taking an individual class win for ?Best adventure bike?.

For the full stories behind the award winners, pick up the new issue of MCN, which is on sale now.

Honda has just issued a recall on the NC700X. I believe it is related to a brake issue.

Straight from the mouth of the parts and service manager at my local dealership yesterday.

Haven't heard about a brake recall. The one I heard about was for a certain chain. DID chains OK, but RK chains not stamped "Japan" will be replaced.

I sat on one this weekend. If I was shopping and the NT was not available, I would have to buy this bike... and farkle the bejeezus out of it.
My favorite thing without having a test ride? It weighs practically nothing!

I was at the Honda dealer today to set up an appointment to have the differential looked at--seems to be leaking a small amount of oil. Looked at the NC but was unable to test ride it because of a chain defect (Recall). Nice looking bike, and I was told that it handles exceptionally well. Problem is that it is too tall for me.

I was looking at one at the Honda dealer and thinking maybe the NC will be a good tow bike for my next sidecar outfit. Pity about the chain, though.

I was at my dealer today and saw my first NC. It had a "Hold" sticker on it...maybe because of the recall. I was favorably impressed with how it looked, but didn't even get a chance to sit on it.

I can't imagine touring on it, but I'll bet it brings a lot of people into Honda's camp.
