This is Rare Bear's R3350 during a night run.....2013...the noise and prop wash are incredible too.....
Someone built a copy of the Howard Hughs H1 race plane and did a record attempt at dawn at Reno 2003, I think. This plane was built with a level of quality only few can imagine. Regreettably, it was eventually lost with its pilot in a crash near Yellowstone...prop counterweight failure. Pic by Don Dawson.
Lefty Gardner was know for pushing the height safety limit. Your head should never go below the top of the 50 ft Pylon.
