Resolved / No helpful info here, just a question I solved myself in a way I can't answer to anyone else because it was luck, not skill

I took my panniers all apart and then a month passed and suddenly I don't remember how to put it all back together. I got the pannier pans back on but I'm drawing a blank on how to properly run the cable.


The parts fiche does not help, as a side note

The beginning chapter of the Honda Service Manual, General Information section, has detailed black & white drawings - not unclear photos - of how the wires and cables get routed. Someone on this website is selling a used manual so I'd suggest buying it.
