Season's Greetings, laments and musings

Apologies for my absence; it's been an interesting few months. . .

In August, I was privileged to experience at first hand the quality of England's ambulance and hospital services thanks to a myopic motorist who somehow "didn't see me" as I was travelling along the road. This may possibly be due to him reaching a T-junction and not even bothering to swivel his scrawny neck to check if there was any traffic. I was only doing 30mph, so it could have been worse, but my lack of practice at "getting off a moving motorcycle" resulted in the bike (thankfully, my old CB500, not my Preciousssss) high-siding me into some railings, then landing squarely between my shoulder-blades. This did sting a bit.

Thankfully, I got away with a few cracked ribs, some grazing (even through armoured leathers - go figure) and general batter'n'bruising. The bike was a 'category C' insurance write-off; i.e. fixable, but cost of repairs in excess of the bike's value.

On the plus side, I can add to my review of the Nolan N104 by saying that it takes a hammering quite well:

The police were on the scene quickly and got the guy to sign an admission of blame so I shouldn't be out of pocket, but I was only off the road for a couple of months, so all's well that ends well.

The NT700 Deauville is still running sweet as a sweet thing, and before my unintended stunt practice, Mrs Nobby & I enjoyed a delightful week touring northern France.

I'm now drooling at this:

?15K with all the bells and whistles is sorely tempting for serious touring and long-haul stuff, but it might need a few months saving my pennies before I can stroll into my local Triumph dealer and place an order. Will still hang onto the Deauville for commuting and fun.

Anywho; main thing is to wish you and yours everything you'd wish for yourselves.

Merry Christmas!

Glad you weathered the crash and that your helmet passed. Do take care of yourself and get better soon. That Triumph is a beautiful bike. Triumph is really making a great comeback. Seems to be a well managed company. Have a Merry Christmas.

Wow, Nobby! Glad you're OK again. I can sure understand why you want a Trophy -- I've been reading Bike's reports on them and have done a little drooling myself!

Merry Christmas to you and Mrs. Nobby!

Gouges like that look much better on a helmet than an actual head. Glad you had it on and that you were able to mend ok.

And yes the new Trophy sure looks nice. But I'll be staying put on Hinckley's other recent release for the foreseeable future!
