Two Honda oil filter numbers?

I am looking at two Honda OEM oil filters for my NT I have stored in my NT Parts box. They look identical, in their original Honda wraping, except that one was assembled by Filtech and one by Roki. Both were assembled in the USA.
One has the part number 15010-MCE-H51 (that would be the Filtech)
The other says par # 15410-MFJ-D01
I cant remember where one came from (probably a dealer) but the other came from BikeBandit.
Anyone know for sure the numbers are interchangeable or why there are two?

It's fairly common to have more than one provider of oil filters, similar to spark plugs always list NGK and ND.

+1... also, my GL1800 and ST1300 filters would work for each other... funny enough, my ST1300 filters also work on the Yam Super Tenere. I'm assuming the NT, GL, ST, VTX filters may all be similar in size and possibly identical in thread pattern/depth. Just a guess.

The oem filters that I purchased are the 15410-MFJ -D01. They are made by Filtech.

The H51 is a filter set which includes filter and wrench. The D01 is just for the filter. I believe both filters are the same.

Hey Warren, thanks! That would make sense as I did purchase the filter and wrench set. That would explain the different numbers. When I had a Connie and an 1983 Wing, they
used the same oil filter, interestingly enough.

NT Filters also fit Shadows.

Most all Japanese motorcycles with spin on filters will interchange the variable being the lenght of the filter and the clearance on the bike.

Just be careful with the length of the NT filter. No more than 2.5 inches long. If longer then the center-stand will contact/ punch a hole in it.

FRAM says their PH6017A is a cross reference to the 15410-MFJ-D01 filter, but from the specs, it appears to be 2.8 inches long. That won't work on the NT700, will it?

Only until the center stand flips up and then the center stand will strike the oil filter likely puncturing it.

You need to stick to an oil filter that is the same length as the OEM size or remove your center stand.

So, has anyone located a non-OEM replacement filter for the NT700? I plan on purchasing half a dozen, and the OEMs are running over $10/ea with shipping. Is there a replacement one available that's under the 2.5 inch maximum?

When Walmart discontinued their own brand of filter that was low cost and fit perfectly I gave up and bought a supply of OEM filters on the internet. There might be other filters availabe that will fit but some will probably cost more than $10. The K&N filter comes to mind but I believe they are more like $15

My first oil change was with an Wix brand filter I purchased at Napa auto parts. I think they are called Napa Gold, but made by wix and supposed to be very good quality. We cross referenced it at the store and I measured it before I bought it. Worked great. I only bought it because the Honda dealership couldn't sell me one. Other oil changes have all been Honda filters. No particular reason.

I don't understand it, but if I order online from one local Honda dealer oil filters are $8.45, and the other is $13.87. 40% cheaper???? Anyway, check around at some of your local Honda dealer, prices do vary. I usually order online and don't have them shipped and make a ride to get the parts.

Also you can buy 6 Honda OEM filter on ebay from a couple of sellers for less than $10 each including shipping.
