Two "Waves" On the Ride Home

I have had other riders want to share my lane with me. I find it irritating but usually slow down, move over and let them go on their way. I have never been saluted for it though.
I was in my service van turning left, when a pickup on the road I was turning onto decided I was turning to slow, pulled out in front of me making me brake even harder than I was to make the turn, and flipped me off as he pulled in front of me. I don't understand, he violated my right-of-way and then flips me off???
