White Corrosion on engine case

Has anyone seen this? I am begining to get a white scale on the engine case and am wondering what is the prevention and cure for same. I am in a hot and humid environment but this is showing up this winter. Mostly on the forward exposed surfaces. Not around salt water either by the way.

Here at the Retirement Home, we have had good luck with clearcoating using Yamaha brand (from the dealer) clear coat over the years.......used it on buffed/polished aluminum cases and never had a problem with peeling or checking.......
