Got One!

I am a very happy camper. Last week I got my new 2010 Red NT700V. I test rode it when it had 22 miles on it and took it home that day. My Harley Trike has been sold and I’ll not venture in that direction again. I have ordered about $ 1K of farkles and look forward to fitting it up and making it into MY touring machine. I may take it to Daytona Biketoberfest as it is only about 400 miles from my home in the Keys. My riding buddy moved from the Keys to above Golden, CO in the mountains. The Trike definitely did not fare well in the twists and the high winds at altitude. The NT should excel.

I have taken advise from many members on the pros and cons of various items. I’ll add a Hepco & Becker luggage rack so that I can use the Tour Case that I have on my Triumph Bonneville T100. Be nice to just swap it out. I’ll also add risers, a Fenda Extender, Wind deflectors, carbon fiber tank pad, a kickstand footprint enlarger thingy, a tool kit and a service manual. With all of the Videos, I’ll be doing much of the maintenance required. I think I will also add some Michelin Road Pilot 5s in a few months. This bike had been stored in a conditioned, dark room next to the showroom. Currently there are a bunch of bugs on this critter as I put 400 miles on the last two days. Thrilled to have my new bike.

Thank you fellas. Gonna try to make the Black Hills Event. Very familiar with the ride as I have been to the Sturgis Rally 12 times. Looking forward to the twisties on a scoot that is capable.

Welcome Buckwheat from the Great Lakes state. Nice red 2010, oh yeah, I love mine. I just put on the Dunlop roadsmart 3's, seems like an excellent tire. FYIW

that's the best FRONT tire for me. most mileage was about 24K, others 22K, at least 20K. I do have a tire chart on some other posts

way to go buckwheat!!!
I got me a spare red NT last Nov, with 508 miles to be my next beat to death NT. my silver is at 197,350 now, gonna retire it in Oct with over 200K

Congrats, wow 400 miles already? I just took mine out for a 2 hour ride today. Don't know what kind of rainy conditions Hurricane Florence will be causing in the DC area so figured today was the best time to go for a ride. =)

Congratulations on getting one of the fast Red ones. Dont forget the big lids. Rode mine today after coming home from a 1600 mile trip on the FJR to Reno and Back. With 60 lbs of camping gear. Makes you appreciate the light weight of the NT....
Think about this. Your new bike was way cheeper than a new Yamaha 900 GT, looks better, and will have more pannier space when you get the big lids. And there are no shims and you will have a shaft drive that is way cheeper to maintain and save
hours of cleaning time.
In short, you bought the most inexpensive bike with the most features available in the last 8 years. With low parts and service costs. Be gentile opening and closing the lids and you will have many trouble free miles. But do read up alot on this forum under all the sub forums.
