Grand Tour of Texas

Hope you have fun. I've ridden across Texas numerous times. There's a whole lot of nothin' out there. Other than the Twisted Sisters ranch Rd thing and Big Bend, I don't know what else I'd want to check out.

There are a lot of good motorcycle roads in Texas - all over.

Yes I have ridden the hill country many times, but it can be ridden in a day. Used to ride down on the weekend from WF and stay at Fredericksburg and ride those routes.
Actually half a day... one direction in the morning and the other direction after lunch LOL

Riding down from WF to F-Burg it was 280 miles (one tank of Gas on a ST1100) 4.5 hours, straight down Highway 16. Don't remember a decent curve or twisty in the entire route.

The entire state of Texas, big as it is, has eluded me and my motorcycles. I've been in all the states that surround Texas at least twice and have even been to within 10 miles or less of the Texas boarder without ever crossing it. So now that I'm in the twilight of my riding career I'll probably never make it there.

I'll buy free ice cream for whoever can guess the most correct locations of any of these photos. CLUE None are in Texas

Bonus puzzler. Double or nothing. In what state or province did these former bugs live?????

#3 could be any of the gazillion overlooks in Appalachia. Could be off Skyline or Blue ridge Pkwy

#5 is definitely Beartooth, Montana side

Them bugs look like Minnesota/Wisconsin skeeters!

WRONG Mike.
It was MI, on my annual “Tour da UP”.
You win nuthin.
Besides, our mosquitoes are much larger.

Never saw them bugs before or since. Riding along the north shore of Lake Michigan I could see what looked like smoke way ahead. It was moving like smoke and gone when I got there. Then I finally hit a swarm of them. That sequence happened several times that evening.

Got back from my first ride on this tour. Picked up my placard at the Flying J Ranch then visited Hondo. Found an FM road in the Hill Country I had not been on before - it was most excellent! 10.jpg32.jpg
