Hi,

I took out the saddle bag cable and now cant figure how it goes back in.

Request anyone to kindly take a picture of how the cable is routed under the seat and post it.

I checked the parts diagram but not getting much clarity (the part diagram shows the cable that goes to left pannier bent 180 degree).

Medium

TIA
Sunny

Well, I did that job on my GF's NT700VA not so long ago (replaced both inboard pannier-halves) and found the illustration (in the w/shop manual) accurate and helpful...
The shown 180° loop for the longer, LHS mechanism seems about right; the "single bowden" goes to the lock, actuating the "double bowden" simultaneously...
I washed the whole cinematic (lots of crud as PO went overboard with sticky, petroleum based grease) and lubed with silicone spray only...
Ended up with very smooth lock/lid operations...

I also enforced all the mounting posts on the plastic with some 5 minute epoxy
(them crumbling apart caused the shown lock-rails to "float" around, making opening & closing of the lids very hard...)

Thanks. got it.

I also used JB weld to reinforce all the 4 mounting posts that hold the locking mechanism. I also reinforced the mounting holes in the pannier lids where the retaining straps attach.

IT still surprises me that Mother Honda decided to use such a bad plastic for this area.

Ditto (actually the first thing I had to enforce; GF snapped one within the first couple of weeks due stowing/handling her big purse... did the posts for the strikers as well...)

Well, production ain't done by Big Red... but Honda Spain...
And mentioned petroleum based lubricants (chain-spray or whatever the PO applied there excessively) made the plastics totally brittle...
Its supposed to be ABS, but in comparison my ST1100 (which was made in JP) is build like a tank...
