Well, it makes a good story.According to Ford, they are to be used as trail sights in navigating tight obstacles, tie down points for anchoring canoes, etc. on the roof and as a limb riser anchor to anchor cables from the hood to the roof rack to deflect low hanging branches away from the windshield.
