I actually like it, even though I always keep spreadsheets on when I need to do things, it's good to have the reminder in my opinion. I do wish it was easier to reset, like most vehicles..
For me, I keep documents on all services on my Six main vehicles...so I can quickly look at see when I last put on a rear tire on the XT, for instance.
Now, if there was a screen that said all the maintenances that were done by the dealer or you and what milage and when and where, that would be one thing.
If there is a bike with just an idiot light that said services needed, well, I have a big issue with that. Especially if I can not reset it with existing buttons.
If a warrenty is involved, they have a right to know when what service is done when and by whom.
I do appreciate that 50 percent of the public has never checked nor do they know how to check their spare tire pressure. And I do appreciate a company has a right to know if routine maintenance is done if they are carrying a warrenty. But ridiculas maintenance...like new $100 worth of plugs every 7,500 miles is a scam. Or valve checks at 12,000 mi for $1800..
Once a vehicle is out of warrenty, I should be able to do what I want. John Deere lost a big lawsuit cause it wouldnt let its customeers service its tractors.
Things have changed since 2004 when my CRV had a plug change and screw valve adjuster check at 96,000 mi. And that engine is turning at 2900 rpm at 60 mph due to some engineer thinking it was a good idea for a stick shift car with a crusie control on hills.
