14th Nat'l NT Rally - Jun 19-22, 2024 - Spearfish, SD

Tiny town of Cowdry, Colorado tonight. Wind has been howling all day, mostly tailwind from the south.
Low forecast tonight is 36 F. Unlike Coyote Chris, I left home in the heat, but I packed my long johns just in case.

This is the windiest ride I've been on so far, green river campground was so windy I had to guy out my tent in a big way. Supposed to be 39 in the morning and my heated gear isn't working...rain gear works.

Major wind shift Tuesday afternoon. Winds will bring up warm southern air.

36 in the heat of the day today in Butte MT. Glad I delayed my trip one day. Should mostly be 50s tomorrow to Three forks MT except for the passes. Will have my long johns on and heated grips turned to extra toasty.

32 degrees this AM. Winds 26-44 last night. My tent took a beating and got blown full of debris. I’m going to wait until it warms up to 40+ before leaving (if it does). Casper WY tonight and Spearfish Wednesday

So far it has been too hot and too cold. Can’t wait for too wet.

Crazy weather you northern travelers describe. I'm from Arkansas and we don't have the tall mountain passes but cold, snow like you have seen is pretty much just nuts this time of year. It does match what the weather has been jumping around to lately.
Safe travels.

Seeing the bikes ready to go in the garage makes me sad I am missing the rally this year. Hearing about the weather makes me LESS sad.
Be safe all.

Chuga-chugs Chris.
I whimped out and stopped 200 miles short of Spearfish at 2:00PM. Could have been there by 6:00 PM but I no longer want to push it.
Less is more for me, personally. Glamping in motel, at a place I have stayed for 30 years. Three Forks is cool with a few showers.
