I bought some big lids (2nd hand) and they came with a rubber strip already attached for when I drop the bike. The install was very easy - only about 20 minutes.

The difference is amazing The amount of space really does make a big difference. I can easily get my Schuberth C3 in and it's a big helmet (bigger than the Nolan N103).

I notice that closing the lids does take a special technique. I think this is due to the amount of "play" there is in the hinges and plastic itself.

If you're umming and ahhing over big lids, my advice is - get them!

John,

I pick up my 2010 with bigger lids on Saturday. Can't wait! The previous owner added the lids from Europe.
The capacity of those bags is huge.

Sean,

Great news!

I still can't get over how much I can get in them. I can now stop off at the shops on the way home from work. Whereas previously I had to go home, empty the panniers then go to get beer!

Just remember to be gentle with the big lids as they seem to flex more. Push gently either dead centre between the latches or on both latches simultaneously.

With the big lids and a top box, I can carry almost the same amount of crap...excuse me...valuable stuff that I could carry with my Connie and I was amazed at what I could carry with it. I once came home from the grocery store with $274 worth of groceries (although some of it was bungied to the pillion). That was almost three sacks full. :)

Check on their direct website, they were on sale when I bought mine recently.
They were considerably more at every other reseller.

I have a full set of Honda Liners* (bags) for the panniers and the Topbox and they are great. Makes packing so much easier for trips.

I don't use the liners for everyday use just as overnight bags.

*Sorry it's in French but the English version wants you to download the whole brochure

If they're not exactly the same bags, they're very close. I got mine from David Silver Spares when I bought the first set of Big Lids frm them.

Finally put the big lids on the bike. They came from David Silvers Spares US operation. When I was done putting them on I found the directions tucked in the divider in the packing. They are Honda parts shipped in a Honda box. The left bag will now hold my size large HJC Symax lid. Left the original straps on the right side but it still is a bit shy of letting me put it in the right bag. (exhaust side) They flex a bit more than the smaller ones and seem to ask for an even more gentle touch but I can live with that. The backpack that I carry on my commute now flops around where it was a tight fit before.

Yep, well worth it.

And if you stuff them like I do, recommend adding some additional latches as the std ones don't have a lot of beef. :D

If you don't overfill them then stock will do fine.

Can you post the ordering info and the weather or not one lid alone can also be bought. David Silver Spares US operation address. Thanks.

Good luck! There won't be another one of those. Not since I discovered rattle-can satin black paint.

WELL I had to try! seriously If I added the wide lids I wouldn't have room to squeeze by the Harley to get NT to it's parking spot.

Just ordered me some. The large lids not rattle-can satin paint. ;)

If you get the big lids, you can be much happier with them if you spring for some rattle-can satin black at the same time. The tip-over bars don't give the big lids much protection. Of course, you probably won't drop your bike.

This what you are looking for? They answer emails, I have never called. And it took time but was worth it to me.

So about how long does it take to get them once you order them?

Well, it depends. I ordered one lid in late November-early December, but I knew that they were getting lids in a shipment from the UK and that it would be late January- early February before I got it. And it was.

It sounds to me as if they wait till they can get a large shipment of "stuff" (not just NT pannier lids) from the UK. It seems that there were several people who ordered big lid sets -- I don't know if I was the only person ordering just one lid or not. I ordered a black lid but knew that I would be sanding the gloss off of it and spraying it with satin-black.

I replaced the one lid because it had cracked on the inside due to a latch malfunction, so I was matching an already de-glossed satin black lid.
