U.S. Air Force pilots Lt. Col. William “Skate” Parks and Maj. Michael “Danger” Blea were returning from a strike mission in Yemen last year, when the Houthi militants lit up their F-16s with targeting radar.
For 15 hair-raising minutes, the pilots struggled to evade a half-dozen surface-to-air missiles, spraying countermeasures and executing a series of high-G maneuvers.
A Houthi missile shot past Parks and exploded over the canopy of Blea’s jet.
The missile passed “right underneath my left wing, close enough I can hear the rumble,” Parks said of the near miss, which occurred 12 days into Operation Rough Rider, the first major military operation of Trump’s second term.
As President Trump weighs launching another major operation in the Middle East—this time against Iran—the details of the fight against the Houthis show the risks that are involved in a large and sustained military operation.

This has been brewing since the takeover of our embassy 4 November, 1979.
Weakness invites aggression. We should have nipped this in the bud back in 1979. Now, it will be much more costly in lives and treasure.

We have serious weakness in Congress - they have not declared war since 1941, yet we have waged war numerous times since then. (And the PWA is unconstitutional)
