Factories certainly aren't what they used to be. I worked in a factory after my freshman year in college to get some money. Conditions were OK and the pay was good (union job). But absolutely not a place I'd want to work for a career.
Interesting video but not much in terms of useful information. I like it when other people find an interesting video and post it so I don't have to waste hours on the computer looking at a lot of click bait before finding the videos I like. Thanks Frosty.
The BMW boxer engine is not the "end all, do all" of motorcycle engines. But it has been around for a very long time in many iterations. But then so has the Honda 650 Hawk engine. The Triumph triple engine is sweet and strong. But we always have to consider the entire package when we buy a motorcycle.
I'm always comparing my Subaru Forester to my wife's Honda CRV. They are two very comparable cars. The Honda engine has a much smaller displacement than the Subaru. Both are naturally aspirated. The Subaru consistently gets higher fuel mileage than the Honda, but the Honda averages much shorter trips (and with a different driver) so not directly comparable. Overall mileage on the Honda is 32.3 and the Subaru is 38.5. Ride quality is very similar. What bugs me the most is that other than the steering wheel and the pedals all of the controls are in a different location and function a little differently. That unquestionably adds distraction to driving. Grrrr!
Back to motorcycles, if I were to buy a motorcycle base on the statistics of the bikes I wouldn't have a BMW. The Gold Wing and FJR have about the same power and many of the same features as the BMW R1300 RT. But the combination of the comfort, handling, and features made me strongly favor the RT (mostly the comfort and especially the handling). Notice that I didn't mention price because the other characteristics trumped the price difference. And I also didn't mention Harley Davidson because for the last 65 years of riding I haven't wanted one and still don't. Yep, I'm prejudiced.
