I may be late to the game on this, but the search function is unsatisfactory.
Finally just set my user 1 to full power / minimum engine braking and it's exactly right. No jerking at low speed or in corners. Now I only use the rear brake when I actually need it.
I had been switching to rain for low speed, but this works well for all my needs.
